Welcome to Luna midwifery

I was born in Villa Juana, a Barrio on the island of the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the united States at a very young age with my mother.     I was raised mostly in the New York/New Jersey, but spent a good portion of my youth living the Dominican Republic as well.   After my first child,  I moved to  Florida where I lived  for 16 years.  I now reside in Georgia with my three children who are 23, 16 and 15 and my four-legged best friend Kako.  I  also have several feline friends who who like to come around since I  have become an avid  lover of all furry creatures. Aside from spending time with pets,  I enjoy spending my free time enjoying music, dancing,  or creating art.  I also love to spend time away from the city and close to the water.

I have have been serving the community as a nurse and community provider for over 12 years.  Prior to entering the field of nursing, I was an educator both here in the United States and in the Dominican Republic as well.  

I love to inform families on how to care for themselves and their community so that they don't delegate their health to others without the necessary information.  I love to provide information about holistic options for health and wellness and I am passionate about preventative care in our community.

This option is available for moms who choose to birth  at home and want to  midwifery care during the prenatal period. This option includes prenatal care visits, labs and procedures, support during the birth of your baby and postpartum visits. 

Visits are provided throughout the pregnancy until the birth of your baby.  The prenatal care package is an option for moms who would like midwifery care, but are planning a hospital birth.  It includes lab procedures and prescriptions.

We are available to travel for birth services.    Mommies who choose this option usually have a provider for prenatal care and choose us to support during birth. Contact us for more information on fees  and expenses.

Birth Tub, liner and setup supplies available for rent if you are planning a home birth.  This service is available for families in South Florida and Southeast Georgia and surrounding areas.

Birth Classes available for families in anticipation of the arrival of their new little one.  See the Classes tab for options and pricing.

I am certified as a provider in the State of Florida at this time and plan to be available in other States soon.  In order to be able to provide services to moms who need midwifery care the most, I currently accept  Florida Medicaid.  Unfortunately, I do not accept private insurance.

The politics and procedures of the medical complex and insurance  currently make it increasingly difficult for community midwives to accept reimbursement from private insurance.  Please continue to support local community midwives and help advocate for their work wherever you can.  

Payment plan options and a sliding scale  are available for cash paying families.  There is also the opportunity to receive reimbursement from your insurance after the birth.  Please remember that a portion of your payment is directed towards helping other families have access to midwifery care.
